When wearing a veil or headpiece, it does not matter whether it is placed on the top or back of the head, the comb is always placed in the hair with the teeth facing down toward the neck, and the curve of the comb aligned with the curve of the head, as shown above.
The headpiece can be inserted above the curls as a back piece, with the teeth facing down. When wearing a veil and headpiece the veil is placed into the hair first with the headpiece nestled over the top edge of the veil.
A “birdcage” is designed with Russian Veiling and is worn with hidden combs, decorative combs or a headband. It can be worn over the just the eyes or the entire face. In this instance the comb is slid in toward the face, just above and behind the ear.

The crown headpiece is worn at the top of the head. The veil is slide into the hair with the teeth facing the back of the head, then the crown is placed in front of the veil comb.
A blusher is worn over the face and can be part of the veil or on a separate comb. If it is on 2 separate combs, the veil is placed in the hair, then the blusher, then the headpiece. The blusher is then drawn over the headpiece and face. The blusher can be plain or have a decorative edge.
The side piece or vine can be worn with or without a veil. If with a veil, it can be worn at the top or the back; the vine will be under the veil and the side piece will just peek out from the veil.
